Greendrinks is proud to host two monks from the Buddhist order Nipponzan Myohoji, an order solely focused on working for world peace. Each of these monks have walked thousands of miles on Peace Walks and are currently finishing the Great Smoky Mountains Peace Pagoda, the third such pagoda in the US which will be about 100 feet high and visible from I-40, about 1 hour’s drive west of Asheville. Come learn about this noble cause and expand your cultural horizons.
If you’ve seen Plucky Walker before, you haven’t seen Plucky Walker at all. Since the last show, I’ve been locked in my bedroom, writing furiously. I’ve put together almost an hour of new material over the past six weeks, most of it damn-near brilliant.* Now I’m ready to emerge from the laboratory and unleash my creations on the world.
This is not your average hip hop show, folks. Ask anyone who saw the last installment. Costume changes, narrative interludes, a beat cornucopia served by DJ Michael Tangelo—and of course, the dozen characters who live in Plucky Walker’s head, each with their own distinctive voice.
This is my labor of love, folks. No one will be disappointed, whether they’re a true head, an art kid, or a random Bobo bystander. And if you saw it last time, remember—this time it’s a brand new experience, more immersive and engaging than the last.

Abu Disarray will be playing two raw-boned sets on the wheels of steel—everything from crunked Hip Hop to the latest in Juke, Bmore, and Ghettobass madness. If I get my way, he might even throw on some Aquawonkstep. You will dance, or you will die trying not to.
Second Skin examines people whose lives have been transformed by virtual worlds in online games such as World of Warcraft, Everquest, Everquest II and Second Life.
The documentary follows a group of online gamers whose lives are
intensely woven together inside and outside the virtual worlds, a
couple whose lives have changed since meeting online, and an avid
player whose life spins out of control due to his addiction to playing
MMOs. It also presents disabled players who have been given voice and
mobility in the virtual world and explores the controversial world of
Chinese gold farming and presents astonishing facts about online gaming.
Modeled after traditional Balinese and Javanese gamelan orchestras, the GamelaTron is an amalgamation of traditional instruments with a suite of percussive sound makers. MIDI sequences control 117 robotic striking mechanisms that produce intricately woven and rhythmic sound. Performances follow an arc similar to classic Indonesian gatherings, where stories from great epics, such as the Ramayana, are told and settings given in words that are continued in music.

Nature was dirty. Food couldn’t grow on trees. Breakfast was cupcakes.
This upbringing actually propelled me into a state of curiosity later in life, pushed me into a mode of conservation and sustainability, into a yearning for tradition. Birds at my feeder, plants I grew up with never knowing their names, fruits I never tasted, cycles and seasons I depend on are all part of these curiosities, and a basis for art-making. more

Kipper & Bobo Gallery proudly present this masterpiece of the melodramatic: Tommy Wiseau’s The Room.
The Room has been cited by some critics as one of the worst films ever made, and has been called “the Citizen Kane of bad movies.” After a brief run in Los Angeles, the film went on to develop a cult following and continues to have midnight screenings around the United States and the United Kingdom.
From the Writer/Director/Producer/Star:
“The Room” is an American film about love, passion, betrayal and lies. It’s what happens in real life. You could be with your loving woman and all of a sudden BOOM! She’s in bed with your best friend or a family member. “The Room” depicts the depths of friendships and relationships in one’s life and realizes life’s real most asked question:
“Can you ever really trust anyone?”
… Are you ready to see reflections of your life?
“Four Stars” -Brian Cowan (Who The !@#% Is Brian Cowan????)
“Tommy Wiseau’s The Room is the greatest movies of all time.” -Kipper
“-a film so spectacularly awful and inept that it exerts a perverse fascination over the viewer, along with a fair share of unintentional laughs.” -Ken Hanke, The Mountain Xpress
An Evening with Aram Shelton’s Fast Citizens + Perlowin/Burkett
Thursday December 17th | Door at 9pm | $10 cover | limited seating
The Fast Citizens are the Chicago based sextet of Aram Shelton, Keefe Jackson, Josh Berman, Fred Lonberg-Holm, Anton Hatwich and Frank Rosaly. Formed in 2002 by Jackson, the Fast Citizens have decided upon a rotating leader chair and for their sophomore release Shelton has taken the reins as main composer. The title Two Cities reflects the geographic locale of Shelton, (currently based in Oakland, California), and his continued relationship with the active music scene in Chicago. Focusing on orchestration and structural variety, the Fast Citizens present a stylistically diverse album that includes hard swing, lush ballads, high-energy free improvisation, modern composition and Sun-Ra inspired grooves.
Fast Citizens continues to forge its own direction, reaching beyond formulaic conventions to embrace new forms. -All About Jazz
Their debut album, Ready Everyday (Delmark DE-571), was hailed by critics and described as “a meeting of highly skilled and individualistic players who channel their hard work into a cogent and coherent whole”. Two Cities documents the progress of this unique ensemble, comprised of increasingly visible members of the international jazz and improvised music community.
Excerpts from the liner notes by John Litweiler, author of Jazz After 1958, and Ornette Coleman, A Harmolodic Life:
There’s no comparing this music to any other. True, flashes of sound and song suggest kinship with other artists, and moreover, as Larry Kart pointed out in the Ready Everyday notes, jazz’s past has enriched Fast Citizens’ present: “These are the ears and sensibilities of musicians who know both their Ornette Coleman and their Sidney Bechet, their Morton Feldman and their Ruby Braff…” Yes, their sense of playing together has been refined by experience and big ears. More than that, and I think the reason this album is so moving, is each man’s strong sense of presence, immediacy….
Emphatically, all the Fast Citizens don’t just improvise — they compose on the spot, together. It’s what Shelton does, especially in The Twenty-Seven in the loveliest alto-sax solo I’ve heard Mr. Coleman came to town… He plays clarinet in In Cycles, building a musical edifice with spaced, broken phrases and stuttered notes, and in another alto style, with many notes, in his Two Cities trio improvisation… each of his improvisations has its own integrity, its unity, its sense of being composed on the spot.
Perlowin/Burkett is the improv duo of guitarist Shane Perlowin and bassist Joseph Burkett.
Saturday December 12th | Door at 8pm | $3 cover for Scrooges & Grinches
Music for the evening provided by Kipper, and kick ass visuals by Megan McAssKick.
Kippers says:
This is a no holds barred dance party. No sweater is too ugly. No song is too cheesy. No one is too cool. Get yourself a tacky christmas/hannukah/kwanza/cosby sweater and get to BoBo gallery to dance in the holidays.
